A Tiny Bit About Me...

I grew up in a small seaside town in North Wales, where I studied Art & Design and first discovered my love for photography.

In my early twenties, I took my camera to sea and spent several years working as a photographer aboard cruise ships. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to travel around the world twice, meet people from all walks of life, and develop a deeper appreciation for storytelling through images.

Inspired to pursue photography professionally, I moved to London to study Photojournalism at the London College of Communication. During my first year, I secured a role with a news agency, giving me the opportunity to start working professionally while completing my studies. After graduating, I continued working in the industry, supplying images to the national newspapers and covering stories both at home and abroad.

As my career evolved, I spent several years specialising in showbiz and celebrity portraiture, photographing actors, musicians, and television personalities. It was a fast-paced and rewarding chapter that taught me how to put people at ease and create natural, engaging portraits. Many of these sessions lasted just a few minutes—sometimes only seconds—requiring me to build rapport quickly and create strong, authentic images under pressure.

Since then, I've been privileged to document major news events, capture powerful human stories, and photograph a few iconic faces along the way. Those experiences have shaped the way I work today—always looking for authentic moments, genuine emotion, and images that tell a story.

In 2021, my family and I decided it was time for a different pace of life. We left the Big Smoke behind and moved to Mid-Wales, where we now live off-grid in a self-built home surrounded by the beautiful Dyfi forest. It's a world away from the newsroom and the red carpet, but the same curiosity and love of storytelling that first drew me to photography continues to inspire my work every day.

If you'd like to discuss a commission, assignment, portrait session or project, I'd love to hear from you.

“Dan was absolutely brilliant to work with. His style really suited us and we couldn't be happier with the results. Dan guided us in terms of the number of images that could be achieved on the day whilst also making sure we had time to really enjoy ourselves. He was great to have around on the day (guests also said how lovely he was), punctual, took time to know the venue. and spent the entire day looking for the best shots - not just of us but of family and friends too.”
